:Senza Azione: (Italian: without action; sonority similar “sensation”)
A CG-Animated Short Film by Krishnamurti Martins Costa
I began this project in August/2002 and I'm working hard on it, using
almost all my free time. All textures are painted by hand (no scans
on this movie). All models, lights, textures, screenplay, storyboards
etc etc etc I made alone. My intention is to make a good "moviereel"
to try a job on industry (yep, just a dream for now...)
::Details::
Duration: about 5 minutes and 30 seconds to 6 minutes.
Soundtrack: combined Tarantelas with Brazilian rhythms.
- Ambient: sceneries and characters totally three-dimensional.
- Internal atmosphere of the house with shady aspect, only lit up by
internal lamps;
- Closed curtains, providing a hot climate, through the illumination
shades
chosen.
- General house aspect: old, careless, with walls, tiles and floors
very dirty;
- Style mix between realism (illumination, textures, pieces of furniture
and objects of the scenery) with the stylization of the characters,
very caricatural (modeling and animation styles);
::Synopsis::
It is a story, in suspense style, in the which mother (old lady) and
your son (Vicenzo) receive in certain day, the visit of a plumber, strange
element to the peculiar world of that “atypical family”.
The history walk around of an enigmatic old lady that, in spite of
not to move (she is seating in front of a TV, completely immobile),
she possesses one frightening aspect. The history culminates in the
desperate escape of the plumber, that leaves running carries out, due
to yours “hallucinations” around of this "strange old
lady".
In the end, an unusual revelation...
::Main Idea::
The title of the film, “Without Action” (Senza Azione, in
Italian), refers so much to the “no-action” of the old lady,
inside of the story, as for our own submission in relation to the facts
of the daily. Title sonority reminds “Sensation” (Sensazione,
in Italian), what sends us directly to the
unconscious sensations of the plumber in relation to the old lady, as
well as to our senses in relation to the movie and to the awakening
for a bigger sense, in the end.
The story has as idea-nucleus the hierarchical relationship among the
element “manipulator” and the “manipulated”.
That relationship type is perceptible in several levels:
- among family (in the case of the old lady and her son, Vicenzo);
- among the virtual illustration of the animator and the characters
that he manipulates;
- among the animator in the history and an occult force that manipulates
the animator guy;
- between the author of the story and your creation, the movie;
- among a "superior force” and the facts manipulated for
it: virtual animator and the author's movie in the real world.
My intention on this movie is, therefore, to explore the impressions
and sensations that the story can provoke in spectator, in poetic form,
making possible the perception of “new levels of the reality”
- from scenes of the daily, going by unusual situations, until the “final
insight”l: who I am and which our mission in the world.
